Return to Tricare Action AlertSample letters requesting support for Tricare billVersion 1: Dear Representative ____________: Congressman Ed Schrock has introduced HR 3476 to make chiropractic care available to military retirees who are denied a drug-free option to deal with their health problems, including neck and back pain. I'm a practicing chiropractor and one of your constituents I strongly feel this option should not be denied to those who have served our country. This care is available to every person paid a salary by the Federal government. Why should our retired veterans have less freedom of choice? And why should we force them to take drugs for pain when they could be pain-free if they had access to chiropractic? Please support HR 3476 for the good of our military retirees as well as for the many doctors of chiropractic who practice in our state. I look forward to hearing your decision on this bill. Sincerely, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Version 2: Dear Representative _____________ : I’m writing to ask you to become a co-sponsor of HR 3476, the TRICARE / CHAMPUS HEALTH CARE bill, introduced by Reps. Ed Schrock and Lane Evans. This bill would extend the chiropractic health care benefit in the Department of Defense to retirees, dependents, and survivors, as part of the TRICARE program. Chiropractic has been shown to be an effective (and cost-effective) health care approach, which benefits millions of Americans. Chiropractic is a covered service under most health care insurance policies, and should be available for all DoD personnel covered by the Tricare program. Not only would this bill provide access to a much needed, drug-free health care benefit, it would be a boon to chiropractors in our state. Your co-sponsorship would be a very visible demonstration of your support to our profession. The bill is being supported by all major chiropractic organizations throughout the country, including the Chiropractic Coalition (made up of the World Chiropractic Alliance, the International Chiropractors Association and the Federation of Straight Chiropractors and Organizations) and the American Chiropractic Association. Please contact Rep. Schrock or Rep. Lane to add your name to the rapidly growing list of co-sponsors for this important bill. I’d appreciate knowing what action you take on this issue so I can pass the word on to my colleagues. Yours truly, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
