WCA press release on chiropractic tops wire service listThe World Chiropractic Alliance public education campaign continues to have an impact, with positive chiropractic news distributed to key wire services. In the past, stories about chiropractic research – such as the effect of chiropractic adjustments on infertility – have sparked widespread media coverage. In July, the WCA hit another homerun with its press release about a report of the work of chiropractors during the rescue and relief efforts in the aftermath of September 11. DCs rushed to “Ground Zero” to provide much-needed chiropractic care to firefighters, police officers and other rescue workers. The report on their efforts was the subject of an article in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research (JVSR).
A press release was distributed to a major wire service used by almost all major health and medical organizations and publications, including the American Medical Association, American Dental Association, American Osteopathic Association, Mayo Clinic, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, American Pediatric Society, Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions and The Lancet. The release generated so much attention that it ranked at the top of the wire service’s “hit list,” being accessed by reporters more than any other story submitted in June. It generated more interest than stories submitted by major drug companies, universities, and health organizations.
