CCP Guidelines commended in U.S. Congress

On Mar. 17, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr., of New Jersey, addressed the Speaker of the House of the U.S. House of Representatives and publicly commended key chiropractic organizations for their efforts in developing and distributing the Council on Chiropractic Practice (CCP) "Vertebral Subluxation in Chiropractic Practice" Guidelines.

The CCP Guidelines were released in 1998 and have already garnered the attention of health care officials and legislators around the country. Earlier this year, they became the only chiropractic guidelines to qualify for inclusion in the National Guideline Clearinghouse, a project of the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research.

In his remarks, which were entered into the Congressional Records, Rep. Pallone reminded his fellow congress members that an estimated 40 million Americans receive chiropractic care. "These guidelines will improve the quality and value of chiropractic services for these citizens," he stated. "I want to acknowledge the Council on Chiropractic Practice, the World Chiropractic Alliance, and the Chiropractic Leadership Alliance of New Jersey for playing instrumental roles in their development. I commend them for their hard work in developing these guidelines and their dedication to improving patient care."

Rep. Pallone's remarks are considered particularly important since he serves on the Health and Environment Subcommittee of the House Commerce Committee. By emphasizing the importance of the CCP Guidelines and their ability to improve the quality of chiropractic care for millions of Americans, Pallone helped establish them as the most widely accepted guidelines ever developed for the profession.
