Washington
votes on CCP guidelines
The Chiropractic Quality Assurance Commission of the state of Washington voted
to add the Council on Chiropractic Practice (CCP) Clinical Practice Guidelines to its
Instrumentation and Procedures List. Interpretive Statements are used to provide the
Commission's interpretations of rules or statutes.
According to the minutes of the Commission's September 16, 1999 meeting, the
Commission had requested Assistant Attorney General Ann Ryan to draft an Interpretive
Statement regarding this document. Ryan advised the commission that the book should not be
adopted as an interpretive statement since some of the contents are not within the scope
of practice in Washington State.
Despite that advise, the Commission voted to add the Guidelines the
Instrumentation and Procedure list with the clarification, "Approved as allowed under
18.25.005 RCW, this publication does not supersede Washington Statute (RCW) or Rule
(WAC)."
