CBS lowers
rates
The Chiropractic Benefit Services (CBS) Malpractice Insurance Program has reduced its
rates in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, Montana, New York, North Carolina,
Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
"I'm very excited to make this important announcement," stated Timothy
Feuling, vice president of CBS. "Although rates are not always the most important
factor to consider when choosing malpractice insurance, I'm glad to be able to save our
policy holders money and, at the same time deliver the best policy available to
chiropractors anywhere."
Recording consistently expanding growth and already offering competitive rates, CBS has
drawn much of its support from doctors who do not wish their premium dollars to be used to
support the Mercy Guidelines, the World Federation of Chiropractic, or other enterprises
they deem opposed to subluxation-based chiropractic.
CBS is the only program which supports the new subluxation-based Council on
Chiropractic Practice (CCP) guidelines document, using it as its underwriting criteria.
Several other insurance companies, notably NCMIC, have provided substantial financial
support for the development and distribution of the Mercy guidelines, and rely on that
document to make judgments about the "medical necessity" for chiropractic care.
CBS doctors who face legal challenges can call upon a "peer group" of leaders
in the subluxation-based community. In several cases, their testimony has successfully
countered expert testimony provided by medical doctors or chiropractors who attempted to
use Mercy against them.
"One other reason so many doctors have flocked to CBS is customer service,"
Mr. Feuling added. "It's frustrating to have a question about your coverage and not
be able to talk to someone who knows anything about real chiropractic. If you are a CBS
doctor, you'll talk to me or someone here in this office who shares your passion for
chiropractic."
