Dr. Behrendt named JVSR associate editor

Madeline Behrendt, D.C., an author and speaker committed to connecting women to chiropractic and chiropractors to women has accepted a position as an associate editor of the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research.

Dr. Behrendt is Chair of the World Chiropractic Alliance Council on Women's Health and has contributed to numerous print and electronic chiropractic publications, including the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research, The Chiropractic Journal, and planetchiropractic.com.

In addition, Behrendt was part of a chiropractic panel that gave a special presentation at the United Nations Conference on Women in 2001, and has appeared on WebMd.

"We are thrilled to have Dr. Behrendt involved with JVSR for so many reasons. Her work in developing cases that document the impact of subluxation correction in women's health is an extremely important aspect of chiropractic research, education and politics" stated JVSR Editor Matthew McCoy, D.C.

Behrendt is currently working on and/or assisting other chiropractors on several projects devoted to women's health and sociological aspects of chiropractic. Some of these projects include:

*** The Impact of Subluxation Correction in Mental Health

*** The Impact of Chiropractic on Battered Women

*** Chiropractic and Infertility

*** Chiropractic's Impact on Social Health

*** Chiropractic and the Homeless

*** Chiropractic at Ground Zero

*** Battered Women/Intimate Partner Violence and Chiropractic

*** Chiropractic Missionary Work

*** Survey on Women's Health

*** The Establishment of a Research Award for Subluxation-based Chiropractic Researchers

At the recent WCA Summit in Washington D.C., several members of the Council on Women's Health committed to writing and submitting case studies on women's health issues and Behrendt is organizing this effort along with Council Vice Chair Dr. Leslie Bedell.

According to JVSR publisher Terry A. Rondberg, D.C., "Dr. Behrendt is another perfect example of how much impact one person can have in our profession. We have so many voids to fill in terms of research and along comes someone willing to work to get it done."

Behrendt joins Drs. Mark Filippi, Dean Smith, Marcia Lancaster and Richard Pistolese who also serve as associate editors of JVSR.

Doctors interested in writing a case study on women's health issues or conducting other research on these topics should contact Behrendt at mbcare200@aol.com or McCoy editor@jvsr.com.
