Life's lessons

by Dr. Ed Plentz

Sitting back and reflecting on my chiropractic life I realize how many lessons I've experienced and how many I will experience in the future. It's amazing when I think back on how these experiences have allowed me to grow and to reach practice goals and lecturing accomplishments I never thought were possible at such a young age.

You see, all my experiences weren't good ones. Even though we learn from all types of situations, I would have liked all of them to have been good ones. It wasn't until I met Dr. Joseph Flesia and began implementing the Renaissance procedures that my chiropractic experience started to become an enjoyable day by day life expectancy of setting and reaching goals that even my closest peers could not imagine possible.

When you reach heights in your practice life that sometimes even you can't comprehend, you can feel very alone. You need like-minded people with similar goals who have already experienced the life's lessons before you to help guide you and make your journey a galactic voyage of chiropractic bliss.

We have, through the wisdom of Dr. Flesia and through persistence and hard work from Dr. Pallis and myself, put together a program (Mentor IV) of self- and practice-enhancement that will allow you to go through your chiropractic life with a majority of accomplishments, instead of practice frustration.

The program is ever growing, with higher levels of participation as you evolve in your practice maturity from the experiences and the levels of awareness you achieve.

Each time I perfect a certain aspect of the program in my mind, I open doors to the next level of chiropractic achievement. This is very exciting to me. It means no more searching or looking for the new niche or gimmick. I can perfect a practice system based on science and philosophy and that is congruent with the big vision paradigm of chiropractic today for a better world tomorrow.

We all know there's no place like home and no matter how far we move away we're always welcome there. That's the way it is with The New Renaissance family. The door is never locked and doctors are always welcome at our table. We're here to provide a place of chiropractic certainty. I speak with literally hundreds of chiropractors a year, and they all tell me that they "just don't know where to turn, or who to trust." I always reply that you don't have to worry when you're at home.

The New Renaissance is dedicated to bringing true chiropractic to life in your heart. At this level of the program I will hear comments like, "I got that case history and exam, etc. down." I laugh because I can see Dr. Flesia looking at me when I would energetically say those same words to him, then commenting (with much wisdom): "My young chiropractic warrior, you never get it, you just rise to the next level of achievement. Just as a martial artist never gets it, always continuing on to higher levels."

In earlier lessons, I'd get frustrated with his comments, and then this year -- as my level of awareness rose -- I got an understanding of what he meant. We don't finally achieve these practice-enhancing, life-changing procedures, we just continually perfect them as we grow.

What a life lesson and motivating force. To participants I say, this Mentor IV program will be an ever-growing, ever-evolving organic practice enhancement program for me and you. And you're the one who decides at what level you want to participate.

I congratulate you on your chiropractic successes so far. Just remember that although we rejoice when we achieve new levels, we have to stay humble and know that this is just the beginning. We have many more of life's lessons to experience.
