Dr. Mancini named 'Hero for Humanity'

Fabrizio Mancini, D.C., president of Parker College of Chiropractic, has been named one of the "Heroes for Humanity" for enriching and inspiring others. He joins a list that includes Katie Couric, Michael J. Fox and Danny Glover. Dr. Mancini is the first person in the health care field to receive this prestigious honor.

Mancini and his inspirational story are featured on the Heroes for Humanity website, www.heroesforhumanity.com. He tells his story of coming to the United States as a 12-year-old native Colombian who could not speak any English. Through the help of several personal heroes, Mancini became a Doctor of Chiropractic at the age of 24. His mentor, Dr. James Parker, taught him to "Love your patients like your family."

Now, as president of Parker College, he has a very "large family" to look after. He says he was very surprised by comments from students who had never seen a Hispanic doctor. Mancini uses his story to show students that if he could do it, so can they. At age 36, Mancini is one of the youngest college presidents in the United States.

Mancini has been instrumental in helping to spread the word about chiropractic care to the younger generation. He conceptualized "Parker Kids Club" and helped bring Kid's Day America/International to the Parker College campus. Kid's Day offers free Child Id Cards including fingerprints, dental screenings and photos.
