The 11-person Veterans Affairs Chiropractic Advisory Committee includes
six chiropractors. In addition to Dr. Fischer, the following D.C.s were
named to the panel:
*** Michael McLean, D.C., board member of the
International Chiropractors Association, ICA Legislative chairman.
*** Cynthia Vaughn, D.C., member of the National Board of
Chiropractic Examiners and the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing
Boards; partner with ACA President James D. Edwards, D.C., in Chiropractic
& Spine Center of Austin.
*** Ronald C. Evans, D.C., associate professor at
Northwestern College of Chiropractic; member of the Department of Defense
Oversight Advisory Committee; CEO of ICPC, a provider network that
supplies D.C.s for Blue Cross of Iowa.
*** Reed C. Phillips, president of Los Angeles College of
Chiropractic at Southern California University of Health Sciences.
Department of Defense Oversight Advisory Committee (DoD OAC); member,
Mercy Center Consensus Conference Commission.
*** Charles DuVall, D.C., president of the National
Association of Chiropractic Medicine.
In addition to the D.C.s, the VA Committee includes the following five
non-chiropractors:
*** Michael J. O'Rourke, assistant director Veterans Health Policy;
consultant, Veterans Health Administration National Center for Ethics.
*** Brian Murphy, P.T., professor, University of Utah; member, Field
Advisory Board, VA Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; co-owner of
Pinnacle Performance.
*** Warren A. Jones, M.D., former medical director, TRICARE Management;
Family Medicine professor, University of Mississippi; president, American
Academy of Family Physicians; served as special assistant to the U.S.
Surgeon General for Physical Qualifications and Review.
*** Michael K. Murphy, D.O., dean of College of Osteopathic Medicine
& Surgery, Des Moines; executive director of the
Appalachian-Osteopathic Postgraduate Training Institute Consortium;
retired Navy Captain; Navy liaison to the DoD OAC.
*** Paul G. Shekelle, M.D, Ph.D., professor at UCLA; Medical consultant
for RAND Corporation; co-author of RAND study supporting manipulation for
low back pain.
