WCA names Dr. Tony Palermo to CEO spot
Jeff Smith to take reins as Executive Director
The World Chiropractic
Alliance (WCA) has appointed Tony Palermo, D.C., its new Chief Executive
Officer. He immediately formulated an exciting program designed to increase
member benefits and boost enrollment in the organization.
"The key to growing the WCA
is to make sure all chiropractors are fully aware of the tremendous value
they receive by joining," Dr. Palermo said. "Not only do they support a
group that actively fights to protect and promote subluxation-based
chiropractic throughout the world, they are given practical tools for
building prosperous, satisfying, and successful practices."
Palermo, a 1989 graduate
of Life College of Chiropractic, has operated two highly successful, large
volume family practices. His current practice is a 100%-cash,
wellness-oriented, subluxation-based practice. Although a highly profitable
practice, it takes only about 10 hours per week.
The rest of his time is
devoted to his family, and to teaching other doctors how they can have a
practice that maximizes income while minimizing stress.
His latest endeavor is
the "2X + 1 Mastermind Coaching Program," which recently earned the
enthusiastic endorsement of WCA President Terry A. Rondberg, D.C.
Palermo plans to
incorporate many of the principles of the 2X program into the WCA, and help
members become among the most successful doctors in the profession. "At 2X,
we emphasize the concepts of strength, pride, integrity, and love, and we
use these as the building blocks for a great practice, and a fulfilling
life," he explained. "We're going to apply -- and teach -- these same
principles to WCA members, knowing that if we help strengthen their
practices, we'll help strengthen all of chiropractic."
Membership in the WCA
has grown tremendously since it was founded in 1986, but most D.C.s do not
belong to any organization. For some, the lack of involvement may be due to
apathy, Palermo noted, but for most doctors it is a matter of not
recognizing the personal and professional benefits of joining, and not
realizing the tremendous impact they -- through the WCA -- can have on
chiropractic.
"The goal of the WCA is
to safeguard chiropractic from those who would destroy it or distort it into
a medical therapy," he stressed. "My personal goal as WCA's CEO is to make
sure every doctor of chiropractic on the face of the earth knows this, and
ask them all to work shoulder to shoulder with us to achieve that goal."
Dr. Rondberg expressed
excitement about
Palermo's
appointment and his strategies for building the organization. "He has an
incredibly creative, innovative mind, coupled with top-notch business savvy
and skills," Rondberg stated. "The WCA is going to approach this as if we
were one of his clients, and build what will in essence be the largest
chiropractic 'practice' in the world."
The CEO is chosen by the
WCA board of directors and serves a one-year term of office. Palermo
replaces David Jackson, D.C., who now serves as president of Chiropractic
Leadership Alliance. Dr. Jackson will continue to be active in the WCA as a
member of its International Board of Governors.
In a related action by the
WCA, Jeff Smith was named Executive Director and charged with developing
programs that will help increase the value of membership. He will work
closely with Palermo and the WCA Board to make the WCA the most important
tool doctors could have for boosting their private practices as well as
safeguarding the profession.
Smith is an authority on
what he calls "outside the box" success strategies for chiropractors. A
chiropractic patient since he was 17, Jeff has a deep passion for
profession, and has gained expertise in working with D.C.s.
Smith is also the author
of dozens of books and courses, including "The Stress-Free Chiropractic
Success System," and the founder and head of the "2X+1 Chiropractic
Mastermind" program, a by-invitation-only community of the world's top
doctors.
He will be sharing his
success insights with doctors through a regular column in The
Chiropractic Journal.
