WCA Board member publishes book

J. Zimmerman, D.C., of New Jersey, a member of the WCA Board of Governors, has written a comprehensive volume on patient education and practice marketing titled, "Build a Booming Practice in 24 Easy Steps: The Working Chiropractor's 4-Part Course."

Dr. Zimmerman was inspired to write the book after being interviewed for the Chiropractic Leadership Alliance's "On Purpose" audio series. The interview quickly became popular with the CLA audience, and was added to the "Best Of On Purpose" edition.

Shortly after the interview was released, Zimmerman began receiving calls from chiropractors around the world who wanted more information on his 24-visit report of findings. He decided to put the unique patient education procedures and marketing strategies he'd used to develop and maintain his own two flourishing practices into an easy-to-read and simple-to-use course.

"If you teach your patients what you know, in a way that's understandable and fun, they'll value chiropractic as much as you do," Zimmerman points out. "My book is designed to open the D.C.'s mind to the many different ways a doctor can teach chiropractic health care -- or get the 'Big Idea' across to patients. When patients understand chiropractic, they use chiropractic for the right reasons," Zimmerman stresses.

"How would you like to have patients who bring their children in for care without you having to ask? How about patients who not only come in for a chiropractic exam when they have an ache or a pain, but also show up in the waiting room when they have a cold? Then there are the patients who come in without any symptoms at all, for lifetime care, and greater referrals. This is what good patient education can accomplish," states Zimmerman.

Another important aspect of chiropractic practice is marketing to new patients. In fact, a steady stream of new patients is crucial to a successful practice. Yet, many chiropractors dislike marketing, often because they fear being compared with used car salespeople. Zimmerman's book contains professional methods to attract new patients without compromising ethics or chiropractic principles -- methods designed not only to attract new patients, but quality patients who want the services D.C.s have to offer.

"Build a Booming Practice in 24 Easy Steps: The Working Chiropractor's 4‑Part Course," is an informative and practical guide that offers essential steps to build a chiropractic practice. An easy -- and humorous -- read, the book is based on solid patient education procedures and a dynamic internal and external marketing program requiring little or no monetary expense.

The featured procedures have been tested over time and proven to be effective, ethical ways of building a chiropractic practice, while allowing the established practice to stay prosperous and continue to flourish. They are methods equally of value to both the new doctor and the long time practitioner.
