Chicken soup -- for the chiropractic family

by Dr. Eric Plasker

There has never been a better tool for educating families about the lifetime benefits of chiropractic care than the newly released book, "Chicken Soup for the Chiropractic Soul," by best-selling authors Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen and Dr. Fabrizio Mancini.

Inside the pages of this profoundly moving book, you will find real life stories of people who survived and triumphed over illness with the help of the chiropractic wellness model. Among the dozens of incredible testimonials are stories about newborns, athletes and average citizens whose lives have been miraculously changed by the healing touch of chiropractors.

Believe me when I tell you that there is no greater gift you can give your spouse, friends, patients or colleagues than a copy of this series of soul‑searching stories that illuminate the place that the chiropractic profession can and should have in the lives of every family. From helping patients with paralysis to improving an athlete's performance time, the diversity and humanity that unfolds in these recountings will enrich the lives of everyone who reads them.

Finally, a resource exists that can move chiropractic into the mainstream and give it and your practice the instant credibility it has always deserved. With 80 million copies of "The Chicken Soup for the Soul" series sold already around the world, Canfield and his co‑authors have hit a home run for every family chiropractor around the globe with the latest offering.

I recommend that you use this book to market your practice, create lifetime care relationships in your community and stimulate referrals. Consider donating one of the books to your local library, athletic organization, school or corporation. Send a copy of "Chicken Soup for the Chiropractic Soul" to your local media along with a press release.

Use it as a vehicle to gain on‑air speaking opportunities or audiences with human resources and other employee groups. You can give them as gifts to your patients who send you referrals. Plan a health talk around the book and then share some of your own "chicken soup" stories to inspire and support the patients who already frequent your practice.

Plus, be sure to have plenty of copies on hand at health screenings, your Report of Findings and anywhere else where you mix with the public. Even if some people don't read the book right away, just seeing the familiar "Chicken Soup" title and its authors is going to give chiropractic credibility and raise awareness in your community.

The book is intended to help people understand that chiropractic should be a part of their total health support plan, says Canfield. "People have been trained not to trust their inner knowing...part of what chiropractic (and this book can do) is give people permission to in a sense to go back to who they really are," he explains.

The "Chicken Soup for the Chiropractic Soul" project is pivotal to the advancement of the chiropractic profession, so I hope you will get involved on a ground level in this incredible mass media effort, because it will open doors in a way you have never experienced before. Please share the book with everyone you know and keep spreading the word and working the vision of lifetime chiropractic care for all, toward a better world.
