November 2003
Summit '04 lists powerful speakers lineup
In past years,
participants have used words like "amazing," "energizing," and "fantastic"
to describe the World Chiropractic Alliance International Summit. In 2004,
they'll have to come up with four times as many adjectives since there will
be four times as many programs packed into three exciting days.
In addition to a
history‑making joint legislative day with the International Chiropractors
Association and Federation of Straight Chiropractors and Organizations, the
Summit will present four separate day‑long programs. Doctors will be given
the opportunity to choose the program they wish to attend on Friday, April
30, before coming together again on Saturday for another full day of
presentations.
The four Friday
programs are:
*** The World
Chiropractic Alliance:
Power and Prosperity
*** The 2X+1
Chiropractic Mastermind "Stress Free Chiropractic Success" ‑‑ an
informative and interactive session with Dr. Tony Palermo and several of the
Senior Members of the 2X+1 Chiropractic Mastermind Coaching Community.
*** The Family
Practice ‑‑ "Mastering The Family Practice New Patient System" ‑‑
Dr. Eric Plasker offers the tools, training, support and systems to build
the dream family practice, and make a difference at the same time.
*** The Torque
Release Technique (TRT) Program ‑‑ presented by Jay M. Holder, D.C.,
TRT creator and president/founder of the American College of Addictionology
and Compulsive Disorders.
‑‑‑‑‑
Each month, The
Chiropractic Journal will focus on one of the four programs. Details on
the Torque Release Technique Program appeared in the October issue of The
Chiropractic Journal, available online at
www.worldchiropracticalliance.org/tcj/2003/oct/oct2003b.htm).
The WCA Summit
program
The World Chiropractic
Alliance program, hosted by Dr. Terry A. Rondberg, WCA president, will
feature 15 speakers, covering philosophy, research, clinical practice,
public relations and much more. You'll hear from:
Jeff Shay, D.C.
‑‑ The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services draft regulation for the
2004 Physician Fee Schedule calls for payments to physicians to be slashed
by 4.2% across the board next year, with some providers being hit with a 10%
cut. Dr. Shay will discuss the latest developments in the Medicare situation
and what the future holds for chiropractic reimbursement.
Madeline Behrendt,
D.C. ‑‑ Her ground‑breaking
research on chiropractic and fertility is attracting widespread attention
from women everywhere. In one study included in her review, every single one
of the women who were categorized by M.D.s as infertile were able to
conceive after having their subluxations corrected. She'll discuss this and
other research into fertility, and talk about what every doctor can do to
get this important news out to the public.
Leona Fischer, D.C.
‑‑ The VA Committee has made its recommendation for chiropractic in the VA
System. The good news is that subluxation correction is included. The bad
news is that most patients will need a referral to see a D.C. Dr. Fischer
serves on the Committee and talks about the recommendations and what they
mean for chiropractic.
Jay Zimmerman, D.C.
‑‑ All eyes are focusing on the United Kingdom and Europe to see whether new
regulatory and licensing laws will protect subluxation‑centered
chiropractic, or effectively ban chiropractic's traditional purpose. Dr.
Zimmerman, who practices in Ireland and acts as one of the WCA liaisons to
the World Health Organization, will provide insights into what's happening
in Europe and how it will affect chiropractic around the globe.
Timothy Feuling
‑‑ Thanks to our 'sue‑crazy' society, the risk of being slapped with a
malpractice suit or board complaint is higher than ever before. And with the
median malpractice case at $800,000 and rising, it's a risk you can't afford
to ignore. Mr. Feuling, president of Chiropractic Benefit Services (CBS)
Risk Purchasing Group, will tell you how to 'bullet proof' your practice
against lawsuits and complaints.
In addition, the WCA
Program has scheduled: Drs. Jack Masche, Spence Jahner, Leslie Bedell,
Stephanie Grenier, Don Harte, Sal Martingano, Dave Fletcher, Liz
Anderson‑Peacock, Jamie Whitlock, Veronica Gutierrez and Brian
Stenzler.
"We're thrilled that we
have such an outstanding lineup of speakers for the 2004 Summit," said Dr.
Rondberg. "Every one of our presenters has valuable and practical
information to give to doctors and their staff members. Our goal is to
empower doctors through knowledge, to give them the specific information
they need to go back to their offices and start having a more prosperous and
fulfilling practice."
The WCA International
Summit 2004 will be held April 29‑May 1 at the J.W. Marriott Hotel in
Washington, D.C. Registration is $285, which includes one practicing D.C.
and an unlimited number of non‑D.C. guests (family, staff, etc.). The WCA
will apply for continuing education credit and will post the states
approving such credit on the Summit website. In past years, Summit
presentations have been approved for 16 credits in most states. An
additional fee of $50 for the processing of CE credit can be paid at the
door.
When registering,
doctors will specify which of the four Friday programs they choose to
attend. Registrants may attend all Thursday and Saturday events as well.
Saturday presenters
include many of the most popular speakers in the profession, celebrating the
art, science and philosophy of chiropractic. Scheduled are: Drs. Eric
Plasker, Tony Palermo, Christopher Kent, David Jackson, Matthew McCoy
and Patrick Gentempo.
The Summit will close
with a candle‑lighting tribute to Thom Gelardi, D.C., founder and president
emeritus of Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic, and a special address
by Dr. Rondberg.
Participants also
qualify for a special room rate at the Marriott when making reservations
through the WCA.
Doctors may register
for the Summit, and reserve their hotel rooms, by calling the WCA at
800/347‑1011 or online at www.worldchiropracticalliance.org/summit04
