One simple suggestion in your ROF

by Dr. Joseph Mannella, Posture Right Neck Orthotics
How would you like it
if your patients took more responsibility for their own health outcomes, if
they wanted to correct their problems vs. treat the symptom?
How do you do this?
It's easier than you think.
While accepting that
not everyone will be a compliant patient, you yourself must be compliant
with your passion, convictions, and delivery of your ROF.
When you tell the truth
about the seriousness of subluxations and postural distortions you can't
hold back. The truth is more powerful than anything you could make up!
Take the lateral
cervical spine for example. The normal arc should be 63 degrees. It's common
for most of your patients not to have this. But common has never equaled
normal. This kind of deviation from normal can lead to many serious
conditions, including decreased quality of life and a shortened life span.
This last statement came directly from The Journal of the American
Medical Association back in 1957.
My simple suggestion is
to tell the truth and back it up with articles from journals like the one
just mentioned. Give this to patients in the ROF so they have something
bigger to bite into. They'll also see why you're so passionate about the
care you provide and begin to see you have a broader purpose than just
treating back pain.
When you start to touch
people with the truth they will naturally reach for your care and
ask, "What else can I do to help?" When they ask for ways to help themselves
before you tell them what they need, you just increased compliance and the
possible results.
You now need to offer
the best solution for your patients' need to help themselves correct
and save their spine. If they want to help put their curve
back to normal, will a rolled towel at home really match their request? No.
And if they don't use the proper home device, patients could be wasting
their time and thinking the recommendation wasn't accurate.
If a patient is willing
to participate in correcting his or her lateral cervical curve, you should
give that person a REAL product to deliver that home care. This is why I
invented the Posture Right Neck Orthotic.
I got real good at
delivering a ROF that motivated patients to want to correct their forward
head posture and ask me the important question of what else they could do.
But I didn't have a product that could deliver the promise of helping to
restore that curve along with my adjustments that was simple, safe, easy to
use, and cost effective.
The patent pending neck
orthotic delivers a specific force to exactly the vertebral placement you
want. It has a consistent and constant contact point that allows for this
specific traction and significant force without the use of straps, pulleys,
weights, water or inflation. The neck orthotic is simple and
simply works.
I had consultations
with an individual who holds Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering and
Bio‑Medical Engineering to assure the correctness of the product for its
intended use. Ditch the towel and give your patients more of an opportunity
to correct their "Arc of Life."
This simple suggestion
will definitely shift all the responsibility from you to a
shared responsibility that will make for a much healthier
relationship between you and your patient.
This is a serious thing
we do as chiropractors and that seriousness and urgency starts with YOU.
Don't be afraid to be serious. Someone has to set the stage. In fact, I'll
go as far as to say your message is more important than your adjustment! An
adjustment is an event and the message is the answer and reason why
such events should take place over time and over life.
