February 2004
WCA Board member is New York 'Chiropractor of the Year'
On Dec. 13, 2003, at
the New York Chiropractic Council's Annual Convention, Brian Stenzler, D.C.,
became the second consecutive member of the World Chiropractic Alliance
(WCA) Board of Governors to receive the coveted Beacon Award.
Presented by Dr. John
Przybylak ‑‑ the past Beacon Award recipient ‑‑ the 13th Beacon Award was
presented to Dr. Stenzler as the Chiropractor of the Year for his
outstanding and unselfish service to chiropractic, the New York Chiropractic
Council and fellow chiropractors.
Stenzler, a 1998 Life
College graduate, was selected from
the more than 6,000 licensed doctors of chiropractic in New York State and
became the youngest recipient of this honor.
For the past several
years, Stenzler has worked diligently to better the practice of chiropractic
on a local and national level. He is the past president for the Nassau
County District and currently an executive officer on the New York
Chiropractic Council's Board.
In 2001, Stenzler was
recognized by the American Red Cross for assisting in the relief efforts at
New York's Ground Zero. Not only did he provide chiropractic services to
thousands of relief workers at the site, but he also assisted the New York
Chiropractic Council with the coordination of schedules for other
chiropractors around the country to serve chiropractic at the respite sites.
On a national level,
Stenzler currently serves on the International Board of Governors for the
WCA. Stenzler is the co‑chairman of the WCA Chiropractic Postage Stamp
Campaign, which was formed to have the U.S. government produce a
Chiropractic postage stamp.
Stenzler has met with
several of his local and national legislators to help shape the chiropractic
profession and to protect and promote the integrity of his profession at the
past three WCA International Summits.
He is currently the
co‑chairman of the Legislative Committee for the WCA, where he acts as a
liaison between chiropractors and legislators to prepare for the WCA
International Summit in Washington,
D.C. this April.
Stenzler is currently
working with ICA and the FSCO leaders to assist chiropractors meet
effectively and efficiently with their respective legislators prior to and
at the "Coalition Pep Rally" during the National Legislative Workday which
kicks off the 2004 WCA International Summit.
In addition, Stenzler
is on the program as a scheduled speaker during the WCA Summit this year.
Stenzler, who has a
family practice in Great Neck, NY with his partner Daniel Matzer, D.C.,
recently opened a second practice in Lake Grove with Gregg Baron, D.C.
Close friend and former
chiropractic school roommate Steven Lindner, D.C., remarked, "Brian's quick
success in chiropractic is no surprise to me. Even as a student, Brian
worked hard to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to become the
chiropractor he is today. Since being a student at Life
College, he has taken a more active
role in chiropractic than many do in a lifetime."
Stenzler credits four
chiropractors in particular for helping mold him into the chiropractor he is
today. Pasquale Cerasoli, D.C., has been his philosophical and spiritual
mentor since 1994; Patrick Gentempo, D.C., trained Stenzler how to
demonstrate and communicate chiropractic principles succinctly and with all
certainty; Bob Hoffman, D.C., (then through Dynamic Essentials, now through
the Masters Circle) taught him invaluable success principles and leadership
skills, both through seminars and through Dr. Hoffman's own personal actions
and successes; and Terry Rondberg, D.C., who showed Stenzler that, "you can
have your cake and eat it too."
"When it comes to
certain issues, there is a line that should not be crossed and compromises
that should not be made" says Stenzler. It is that level of leadership and
what Dr. Stenzler refers to as "chiropractic integrity that is rarely
found."
Stenzler takes that
attitude and brings it with him everywhere he goes, especially in the New
York Chiropractic Council boardroom. "It is there that my incredible fellow
Board members and I help set policy and legislation for the entire State of
New York and for chiropractors to provide and the public to receive true
chiropractic care," says Stenzler.
