The 'wellness
deficiency syndrome'
by Dr. Joseph Flesia
On page 33 of the
textbook, "The Bigness of the Fellow Within," Vol. 22, by Dr. B.J. Palmer
(the developer of chiropractic), we get a glimpse of the inner depths of the
phenomenon called "Life" ‑‑ and the basic philosophical beliefs of
chiropractic. Science is left behind as the unknown author wields the
"poetic pen" to create a parchment partner to a fragile subconscious reality
of what could be.
A poetic journey into
the ever‑shifting matrix of life itself begins...
This Inner Power Speaks
"We Chiropractors work
with the Subtle Substance of [Life].
"We release the
imprisoned impulse, the tiny rivulet of force that emanates from the mind
and flows over the nerves to the cells and stirs them into life.
"We deal with the magic
power that transforms common food into living, loving, thinking clay that
robs the earth with beauty, and hues and scents the flowers with the glory
of the air.
"In the dim, dark,
distant long ago, when the sun first bowed to the morning star, this power
spoke and there was life; it quickened the slime of the sea and the dust of
the earth and drove the cell to union with its fellows in countless living
forms.
"Through eons of time
it finned the fish, winged the bird and fanged the beast.
"Endlessly it worked,
evolving its forms until it produced the crowning glory of them all.
"With tireless energy
it blows the bubble of each individual life and then silently, relentlessly
dissolves the form, and absorbs the spirit into itself again.
"And yet, you ask, 'Can
chiropractic cure appendicitis or the flu?'
"Have you more faith in
a knife or a spoonful of medicine than in the Innate Power that animates the
internal living world?"
‑‑‑‑‑
Words and concepts of a
journey, perhaps, that are past the limits of your own credulity.
Nevertheless, we have gained a toehold on the precipice of tomorrow ‑‑ now.
With a new‑found caution of step we go forward, that this unprecedented
reality may become a useful tool of survival and growth for us as
individuals and as a culture.
WDS
The 'wellness
deficiency syndrome' (WDS) is the inability to manifest the totality of the
"subtle substance of life" because of the interference of the Vertebral
Subluxation Complex (VSC). (1)
The VSC is an
interference unlike any experienced before to the complete expression of the
Innate forces and mechanisms of life, facilitating a basic corruption of the
processes of life itself. There is a manifestation of violent nucleic
upheaval at the interface of RNA and DNA, followed by a wave of sentient and
biological outrage. For the first time, there is a true cataclysm of one's
entire being. (2)
Finally, with the
unrelenting suppression of the wellness system, there is catastrophic
failure of the host...you.
Thus, we experience WDS:
a life of just 70‑80 years; the possibility of many of the hundreds of
diseases, common and uncommon, that wellness‑ deficient people are heir to;
a crime rate climbing at unprecedented levels; the increasing loss of the
oxygen‑rich rain forests; the apparent failure of our health care systems;
so many deaths from medical and surgical care; new diseases running rampant
across our land; child, spousal and parental abuse; the plight of the
elderly; increasing terrorism; a rise in psychotic behavior; the increasing
loss of conscience and personal ethics; and many more afflictions of a
society of wellness‑deficient people. A human being with wellness deficiency
cannot be healthy ‑‑ or fully human ‑‑ on any level.
A new view of
chiropractic? A new view of humanity, of our home ‑‑ planet earth?
Will you be a doctor
dedicated to the elimination of WDS, one patient at a time?
As chiropractic
professionals, we have our responsibility, as big as life itself. Now, let
us review the path in life that encompasses the rights, privileges and
responsibilities of an aware citizen (you) on this planet we call home. (3)
As chiropractic
patients, our duty is to involve our families and all our friends with
chiropractic wellness care for a lifetime. (4)
Only by fully
manifesting the poetry of life can we discharge our own responsibilities to
this and coming generations.
