November 2004WCA press releases tops "hits" list
Two more recent World Chiropractic Alliance (WCA) press
releases ‑‑ on chiropractic research and Children's Health Day International
‑‑ have ranked in the top 10 of the Newswise Medical News "hit list," above
releases from the British Medical Journal, University of California and many
others. The "hits" are the number of times the stories were accessed by
reporters.
The research story ‑‑ about chiropractic and MS and
Parkinson's Disease ‑‑ was accessed 1,482 times, making it the most
frequently accessed story on the service for the month of August. In that
month, 231 press releases were distributed on the medical news section of
Newswire, which is used by almost all major medical journals, hospitals,
research institutes, colleges, organizations, etc. More than 2,000
journalists are registered at Newswise, including representatives from all
the major wire services and many large newspapers and broadcast news
agencies.
The Children's Health Day International release,
announcing the WCA event, drew 956 "hits," making the World Chiropractic
Alliance the only organization to have two stories on the top hit list.
This isn't the first time WCA press releases have made the
Newswise "top hits" chart. In February, a report on the research into
chiropractic and fertility made the list, as did the press release on the
JVSR review of chiropractic efforts at 9‑11 rescue sites in June.
The press releases have generated millions of dollars
worth of positive publicity throughout the world, since the wire service
feeds numerous Internet web news services, such as Google and Yahoo. In
addition, the stories have been picked up by major newspapers and television
news shows.
