Soup kitchen adds chiropractic

Since December 2002, the New York Chiropractic Council (NYCC), through its "Chiropractic for Humanity" program, has coordinated doctors of chiropractic to provide free chiropractic adjustments every Thursday, as a community service.

Recently, the Holy Apostle Soup Kitchen, one of the largest soup kitchens in the world, feeding approximately a million people annually, added this very popular service for the care of their guests.

NYCC Community Outreach Chairperson, Dr. Manny Tsourounakis, stated: "By providing chiropractic adjustments we are providing something that will not only help these people feel better, but will also have a positive impact on their overall well being. The volunteer doctors know that their care will help improve people's lifestyles and perhaps help them take the next step. If you feel better, chances are you are willing to do more to help your situation."

The NYCC, in conjunction with the Red Cross, also coordinated chiropractic care delivered by doctors across the nation to relief workers at Ground Zero. Workers received chiropractic adjustments at four Red Cross respite centers, 24 hours each day, through the end of May, 2002.
