New discovery in chiropractic
Seminar series teaches Test & Response system
Submitted by Test & Response
Most doctors are
stunned when they hear about the woman, a diabetic since early childhood,
who received a demonstration adjustment at a seminar and later was able to
drop six units off her normal 24 units of insulin.
But they are even more
astonished when they learn that, with the Test & Response (T&R) system, such
incredible results are not uncommon. "We get relief on the first visit with
most patients, even if they are chronic cases," says Herman Stoffels, D.C.,
the system's developer. "The T&R discovery works even when everything else
has failed. It's so amazing and surprising, it's difficult to believe."
Since "seeing is
believing," Stoffels includes hands‑on demonstrations at each of his
seminars. More than anything else, these demonstrations have convinced
hundreds of doctors of the efficacy of T&R, and its fame has spread quickly.
In 1974, when Stoffels
discovered that the body's own natural circulating energy fields interfered
with the clarity of reflex testing methods, the entire notion of energy
fields was little understood and often dismissed as "new age" nonsense.
Since then, researchers have made tremendous strides in understanding the
bioelectric systems and how they relate to human health and wellness. In
Russia, for instance, scientists "have proved in laboratory experiments that
living cells have the capacity to transmit and receive ‑‑ by some sort of
radiation waves ‑‑ information about themselves to and from other living
cells aside from the transmission of the nervous system," Stoffels explains.
The pioneering
chiropractor experimented with a wide variety of positioning and placements
of the body and limbs and found that an entirely new dimension in body
response could be realized by a few unusual but simple modifications in body
and extremity positioning. It was through this experimentation that he
discovered that the body's natural circulating energy fields interfered with
the clarity and dependability of reflex and energy field testing. "A simple
muscle test could be converted to a test of total body response by this
changed positioning," he concluded.
This wasn't what
Stoffels had expected to find, which is why he emphasizes that he did not
invent or devise the Test & Response system, but discovered it.
When the body assumes
this position, its usual bioelectrical flow is changed and its normal
strength increases, often nearly doubling. This position is the Test &
Response basic testing position, which makes muscle testing much easier and
less tiring for young, old or ill patients. Even for infants, Stoffels
states that the clarity of using a surrogate in testing is unsurpassed and
that the T&R correction for infants has a tremendous advantage.
The application of a
specific weakening stimulus reverses this added strength and creates a state
of unusual weakness in the test.
"With the patient lying
in the T&R position, it is only necessary for the doctor to contact the
segment of the patient's spine that is most intensely reactive and to
perform this simple muscle test to witness the dramatic change in the
patient's energy levels," Stoffels explains. "A contact with this most
reactive spinal segment causes a loss of both the magnified strength of the
T&R position and the normal strength of the body during the test, making a
distinct demarcation between the strength and weakness from this test."
By applying the system
to patients, he quickly demonstrated its benefits. "The scientific proof
that the energy fields of the body hold an intrinsic relationship with the
innate and with the fundamental subluxation complexes with which
chiropractic has been involved, are being seen in practice," Stoffels notes.
"This astonishing discovery gives great new insights as to why chiropractic
works so well, regardless of which technique is applied."
Stoffels began teaching
his system to small groups of D.C.s, who were almost unanimously won over
after seeing the live demonstrations and being given the chance to use the
procedures themselves at the seminar. "I'm feeling better and so are my
patients," said one doctor who incorporated the T&R system into his
practice. "It amazes me every day."
Another D.C. noted: "On
just using your general cranial release, one party is breathing 100% better
‑‑ terrific." Yet another told Stoffels that "At this stage of practice ‑‑
34 years ‑‑ I thought I had seen it all. T&R adds a whole new perspective to
my life's work."
Since the T&R system is
compatible with all types of practices and techniques, doctors aren't forced
to purchase expensive machines or instruments or change their technique.
Because of the effectiveness of the system, and the ease with which it can
be learned and incorporated into a practice, the Test &Response system has
become known as one of the most important discoveries for chiropractic in
the 21st century. In fact, the description has become so linked to the T&R
system that an Internet search for the term "new discovery in chiropractic"
through the popular search engines Google, Yahoo and LookSmart results in
articles about Stoffels and Test & Response.
Seminars in 2005 are
set for Newark, NJ (May 13‑15), Chicago (July 15‑17) Kansas City , Mo.
(Sept. 16‑18) and Denver (Nov. 18‑20).
