A positive chiropractic attitude

by Dr. Robert Schiffman

"Your ATTITUDE, enthusiasm and self‑confidence are all critical to career success, because a winning attitude energizes your mission, transforming raw potential into sheer power. A negative, self‑defeating attitude destroys all hope of success ‑‑ personally or professionally." ‑‑ Unknown

I'd like to share some thoughts about having a positive attitude and its affects on your life. If you have a positive attitude, you will enjoy much more success with overcoming and overwhelming results. You will also be able to achieve your desires for chiropractic success.

The chiropractic profession, is not just a job it is a mission and requires a lot out of you. Remember to always see the best in everything. Focus on all that you know now is possible rather than worrying about what might be impossible.

Even though it is very hard, make sure that you strive to let things go. This may not be easy for you to master, but keep this objective in mind and do it often, it will get easier for you.

Working and living with others, you will need to consciously choose when it's important to fight for something. When you stop and think about it, you will realize that certain battles are not worth having. At other times you might decide it's more appropriate to deal with it at a different time and different place.

When you choose your employees and the position they will play, consider the types of people they are and who they will be working with. Before selecting an employee, consider the personality and style of the person that will be working around you, you need to be compatible with them, and they need to be able to learn from you.

Planning how you will achieve your desired chiropractic goals will improve the likelihood that you will succeed. The professional athletes and teams do this ‑‑ why shouldn't you? You should strategically think about how to achieve your daily, weekly and monthly goals. Doing this will help you feel great and feel prepared. You now will have a working plan and will take regular steps towards fulfilling it.

Remember to consider the day a win, if the results you felt positive about outweighed those that were not positive. If, a certain day does not feel like a "win" overall, immediately plan how to make the evening better. You should always plan on how to set yourself to win the next day.

You should have a special cause that moves you and that contributes to improving someone else's quality of life. When you do this you will feel wonderful about making a difference and making change. While working on those special causes you know you're helping the greater good, you will feel worthwhile and, as a consequence, you'll experience ongoing accomplishments.

When you help others it can have an enormous impact on your outlook and attitude. Always make sure your definition of personal and chiropractic success includes helping other people and making positive difference in their lives.

If it is possible, and as much as you can, avoid spending time with the "negative Nellies" and people that you feel you can barely tolerate. These are the types of people that will drain your energy. A good thing for you to do instead, is to hang out with great, positive people that suit your style. Their attitudes will be contagious.

During the time that you truly want to be positive, you need to consciously and deeply know what you really like, what you genuinely don't like, what you're good at, and what you're not good at. When you understand these things about yourself, and know to make your decisions according to your interests and strengths, you will naturally be more positive and productive.

In the event that you don't take exceptional care of yourself, you'll find that it will be more challenging to have a positive demeanor. Making sure you get sufficient sleep, eat healthy foods, exercise and have fun. All of these influence your disposition.

When life does provide challenges, remember that you can grow and learn through adversity. So enjoy it!You can be, do, and have anything with the proper chiropractic ATTITUDE!

Your attitude is everything, your sense of humor and how you approach life, makes all the difference in the world. Continuously think positive, plan ahead, brainstorm. This is your life, live it, love it and embrace it. Go out today and make something positive happen. You'll be glad you did! That will put a smile on your face!

Here are 12 key points to help you remember:

1. Develop an optimistic outlook

2. Practice detachment

3. Select your fights and arenas

4. Choose your environment, leader, colleagues, and team

5. Strategize on the win

6. Ask yourself daily, "did I win today?"

7. Direct your passion toward a special cause

8. Focus on how you can help others

9. Associate with great people

10. Know yourself well

12. Enjoy the ride
