Subluxation samba
Most people know that
athletes use chiropractic care to boost their performance, but viewers of
the ABC television series "Dancing
with the Stars" found out that dancers can benefit as well. A short "behind
the scenes" segment that aired during the Oct. 10 episode of the
highly‑rated program showed celebrity contestant Emmitt Smith being adjusted
by Robert Parker, DC, who's been his chiropractor since 1995.
After getting what was
described as "minor repairs" from his DC, ex‑footballer Smith hit the dance
floor and waltzed away with what one judge rated "the best samba of the
night."
Other television media
outlets picked up the unusual angle and expanded on the story.
"Entertainment Tonight" reported that the show's producers asked a
chiropractor to stand by during the Oct. 10 episode in case one of the other
contestants needed care.
Before the week was
out, the Internet buzzed with blogger reports about the chiropractic factor.
A Google search of "Dancing with the Stars" and "chiropractic" netted nearly
1,000 hits on sites as varied as MSNBC to trucknet.com!
