Organization to investigate charges that
Craw ignores, harasses DCs
The World Chiropractic
Alliance (WCA) has filed a complaint against Maggie Craw, DC, Consultant for
the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners, after reviewing the case
involving Donald Harte, DC.
Reports from other
California doctors indicate that the Harte case is not an isolated incident
but typical of the board's treatment of DCs in the state, particularly those
who practice subluxation‑centered chiropractic.
"I think we're seeing
the tip of the iceberg with the Harte case," stated WCA President Terry A.
Rondberg, DC. "For every doctor with Dr. Harte's courage and fortitude,
there are probably dozens of others who've been reluctant to fight the
board. It's important for them to know they're not alone and that they need
to stand up to put a stop to this type of board arrogance and arbitrary
action."
The WCA is asking all
California doctors who have had negative interactions with their board to
file a report with the WCA about their experience.
"We'd like to find out
how widespread the problem is," Dr. Rondberg said. "The board is supposed to
protect the public and make sure all licensed doctors act in accordance with
state statutes. But they're not there to enforce their own personal or
political agenda, or to treat doctors with disrespect or contempt. Refusing
to answer legitimate questions or provide even basic information about a
complaint is unacceptable and the WCA will work to prevent such abuse of
power."
The WCA also is
soliciting reports of similar behavior in other states.
Information about
problems with state boards should be sent to the World Chiropractic
Alliance, 2950 N. Dobson Rd., Suite 3, Chandler, AZ 85224 or via e‑mail to:
boardinvestigation@worldchiropracticalliance.org. All reports must
contain the doctor's name, address and phone number for verification
purposes, although that information will be kept confidential at the
doctor's request.
