DC and wife win top Australian awards

Ari Diskin, DC a member
of the World Chiropractic Alliance International Board of Governors, who has
served the Melbourne Australia community for more than 20 years was honored
with the 2006 Chiropractor of the Year award from the Chiropractors
Association of Australia at the group's annual conference.
The award is granted in
recognition for outstanding service to the profession and community.
As a second‑generation,
Australian‑born, US‑trained chiropractor, Dr. Diskin has had a lifetime
involvement with chiropractic. He served as the Association's president for
three years, Public Education spokesperson for six years, and an Executive
Board member for the past ten years, and continues to serve on other local
and international Chiropractic boards and committees.
Diskin is credited with
developing and introducing many of the educational public awareness
campaigns and initiatives now common in Australia and has worked as mentor
and advisor to numerous graduates both in Australia and overseas. In 1988,
Diskin was named Chiropractor of the Year by the Parker Chiropractic
Resource Foundation.
As part of his public
education campaign, he regularly gives presentations to colleagues,
students, and the public, including business and community. He also
developed a 13‑part "Discover Healthier Living" program, covering all major
aspects of healthy living, which he makes available to his clients and their
families at no charge as part of his professional care.
For the past 20 years,
his business and life partner has been his wife Roselyn Katz Diskin, who
initially practiced law before becoming involved in a number of businesses.
During this time, she also provided assistance and counsel to many
individuals interested in pursuing chiropractic as a career, as well as
members of the profession seeking help in
Australia.
Her significant
contributions to chiropractic were also recognized by the Chiropractors
Association of Australia, who presented her with an Outstanding Service
Award. Rarely is such an honor bestowed on a non‑DC.
Diskin says he and
Roselyn have always tried to live by the golden rule of "do unto others as
you would like done to you," and are satisfied with nothing less than
excellence. Both expressed their gratitude for the opportunities and
experiences they have been afforded thorough serving the profession and
community.
They commented that
people need to realize a state of stress is not natural or conducive to
health or longevity. By implementing a few simple strategies, most can make
a substantial difference to their ability to manage stress.
Instead of a complex
mix of drugs and surgery to counteract or mask pain ‑‑ which is often the
bodies cry for attention ‑‑ ensuring optimal nerve system function can make
a significant difference. They find it sad and difficult to comprehend how
people unquestioningly invest more in their cars than their body, which
needs to house and support them and their endeavors all through their life.
When asked why they
have worked tirelessly for over 20 years, the Diskins replied by quoting
Winston Churchill: "We make a living by what we get, but make a life by what
we give."
