Reader's Digest comments on chiropractic

The July 2006 issue of Reader's Digest contained a short reference to chiropractic for back pain, reiterating the much‑repeated observation that it lacks sufficient research for other areas of health.

According to the article "No Pain, No Pills," adapted from the Mayo Clinic on Chronic Pain, 2nd edition, "Studies indicate that spinal manipulation can effectively treat uncomplicated low‑back pain, especially if the pain has been present for less than a month. Some practitioners say chiropractic manipulation can treat disease other than musculoskeletal problems; however, more research is needed to support this."
