Chiropractic named a 'top job'

For the second year in a row, Fast Company magazine has placed chiropractic on its "Top Jobs" list, saying it's one of the careers that "offer high growth potential, good salaries, and intellectual stimulation." Other health care fields, including dentistry, psychology, and medical science, also made the cut, reflecting what the magazine sees as "increasing opportunities given our growing and aging population." It referenced the Bureau of Labor Statistics comment that in the coming decade "about three out of every ten new jobs created in the US economy will be in either the healthcare and social assistance or private educational services sectors."

The jobs on the list scored highest on three key criteria used by the magazine: projected job‑growth data through 2014, compensation and opportunities for profitable growth and advancement, and the percentage of workers in those jobs that hold a college degree or higher. Each of the first two factors accounted for 40% of the total score, while the third ‑‑ a reflection of "intellectual stimulation" ‑‑ accounted for the final 20%.

The full list can be viewed at the Fast Company website, www.fastcompany.com.
