WCA unveils chiropractic postage stamp

Stamps are valid US postage approved by US Postal Service

For years, the World Chiropractic Alliance (WCA) worked hard to convince the US Postal Service that chiropractic was worthy of being featured on a postage stamp. Despite generating widespread support throughout the profession, as well as from members of Congress, the request for a stamp honoring BJ Palmer and chiropractic was repeatedly denied.

Now, thanks to technology called PC Postage, the WCA has designed and released a stamp commemorating and promoting chiropractic. The stamps, boldly bearing the word "Chiropractic," an artistic representation of a spine, and the phrase "for the Health of it!" are legitimate US first‑class postage stamps that can be used to mail any letter or package.

To produce the stamp, available in sheets of 20, the WCA contracted with an industry leader and US Postal Service‑approved vendor of PC postage. The company has produced more than 32 million stamps for companies and individuals. Each stamp carries a bar code read by the Postal Service.

"The design will help raise awareness of chiropractic for millions of people who send, receive or see the stamp," said Terry A. Rondberg, DC, WCA president. "Each one is like a mini billboard boosting chiropractic. I hope that within the first few months hundreds of thousands of letters will be crisscrossing the country proclaiming the link between chiropractic and health."

The positive impact of an image or message on a postage stamp is so great that thousands of design requests are submitted each year to the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee. Other health care professions frequently have been honored on postage stamps and members of each profession are normally urged to use the stamps for their own mail.

The WCA‑issued chiropractic postal stamps are in 41‑cent denominations, for 1‑ounce first class letters. They are available in sheets of 20 stamps each, for as low as $17.99 per sheet (in orders of more than 25 sheets). For orders of 11‑25 sheets, the price is $18.99 per sheet; for 1‑10 sheets, the price is $19.99 per sheet. There is a flat postage and shipping charge of $5 per order. Stamps can be mailed to US addresses only and doctors are asked to allow 3‑4 weeks for delivery.

Credit card orders may be placed through the WCA's secure ordering system at www.worldchiropracticalliance.org/stamp. Or, doctors may send a check or money order made payable to: Chiropractic Postage Stamps, World Chiropractic Alliance, 2950 N. Dobson Rd. Suite 3, Chandler, AZ 85224. Sorry, but no phone orders can be accepted.
