CCP continues work on guidelines

Needs funds to complete 3rd edition

The Council on Chiropractic Practice (CCP) is in the final and most intensive phase of completing the third edition of its Clinical Practice Guideline, "Vertebral Subluxation in Chiropractic Practice."

During the next few months, the document will be finalized by the CCP Guidelines panel and sent to outside reviewers, chiropractors, representatives of the colleges, state boards, and other community stakeholders for their critical review and comments.

According to CCP President Christopher Kent, DC, the third edition is "a significant update of the evidence-based literature underlying subluxation-centered chiropractic. It responds to the changing scientific, clinical practice, legal and reimbursement environments and has added new sections (e.g., client satisfaction, woman's health, etc.), and a systematic review and update."

More than 1500 papers were reviewed for this revision and update. "Clearly, these new studies document the science underlying subluxation-centered care, and in so doing protect your rights to practice such care," Dr. Kent explained.

During the next phase of the guidelines preparation, the CCP will need funds to support the efforts of several editorial assistants, literature search services, correspondence costs, and on-line file hosting services.

"We are still seeking donations to finalize this important document," Kent stated. "Time is critical. The CCP needs your generous support to continue the evidence-based chiropractic guidelines process," Kent stressed. "The profession needs the recognition of a systematic and thorough documentation of the science underlying chiropractic. For the past 10 years, the CCP Guidelines have provided this level of documentation. To remain in force, updates are required every five-years which is why the third edition is so time sensitive."

Donations can be made online through Paypal at the CCP's website, www.ccp-guidelines.org or by sending a check, made payable to Council on Chiropractic Practice, to: CCP, 2950 N. Dobson Rd. Suite 3, Chandler, AZ 85224.
