EBN adds lifestyle questionnaire to kit
Evidence Based
Nutrition's (EBN) has developed a specialized lifestyle questionnaire to
complement Sciona's Mycellf DNA assessment kits, which it markets to
chiropractors for resale and personalized testing.
"The Mycellf DNA
assessment kits assists chiropractors by providing greater understanding
about the individual's nutritional genomics; or, how genes, diet and
lifestyle interact," explained Kurt Donsbach, DC, ND, PhD, founder of EBN.
"Genes don't change, but diet, lifestyle and environment can and often
does."
The lifestyle
questionnaire gathers information that is processed through Sciona's
proprietary Genostic Rules Engine and gives chiropractors a complete report
of the status of an individual. Multiple graphs make the report visually
appealing and provide easy-to-understand information and lifestyle
recommendations.
The "Your Personal
Health Screen" contains information on how an individual metabolizes food,
utilizes nutrients and removes toxins as well as what supplements and
nutrients an individual is missing.
The information can
also assist chiropractors in understanding what nutrients an individual is
not getting enough of, or, if the individual is over-supplementing a
particular vitamin or nutrient.
By utilizing the
Mycellf DNA assessment kits,
chiropractors are able to match an individual's genetic
DNA profile to nutritional and lifestyle
choices. The result is a nutritional and lifestyle summary report and
actionable health and wellness plan.
The kit provides the
scientific-based knowledge derived from an evaluation of an individual's DNA.
This information includes cholesterol and lipid metabolism, bone
mineralization, free radical removal, antioxidant function, cellular
detoxification, insulin modulation and inflammatory response.
"Your Personal Health
Screen" report was developed more than 20 years ago and has been revised and
updated repeatedly by Dr. Donsbach. The screen broadens the chiropractor's
knowledge about an individual's body, mind and spirit by offering expanded
information in the areas of nutrient deficiencies and/or vitamin overdosing,
anti-aging, autoimmune disorders, inflammatory ailments, chronic fatigue and
fibromyalgia, depression, allergies, symptoms associated with thyroid,
adrenals, kidneys, liver, gallbladder, stomach and pancreas and the
possibility of parasites.
Nutrition Journal
published a study showing that diets based on genetics can lead to
significant improvement in long-term weight management and blood glucose
levels. The nearly year-long research project found that tailoring a
weight-loss program to individuals' unique genetic profile, even in a group
with a history of prior weight loss failures, resulted in significant
improvements in better compliance, greater motivation, and improved
effectiveness, weight reduction, body mass index and glucose levels.
"Sciona is excited to
join with EBN to provide chiropractors valuable information in a way that
was never before possible, stated Rosalynn Gill, Sciona's chief science
officer commented."We are delighted that chiropractors can utilize the
findings as benchmarks for strategic nutritional planning for individuals
who seek optimal health and wellness."
