The only way to validate chiropractic

by Dr. Terry A. Rondberg

The biggest disgrace of modern medicine is that MDs prescribe unnecessary drugs that haven't been properly researched and perform unproven procedures on patients. This is one reason why more than 100,000 people die each year in the US alone as a direct result of the medical "care" they are given.

Thank God for chiropractic.

But are we really so different? We adjust patients on the premise that subluxations have a negative affect on the state of their health but do we have the valid, scientific evidence to back up this claim? You and I know this is true from our firsthand clinical experience and we do have some research we can point to for corroboration, but we do not yet have the kind of massive and indisputable proof that comes with large-scale clinical outcomes research.

We all expect that "someday" that research will be done and we will be able to prove to our patients and the world that the neuromusculoskeletal changes resulting from chiropractic adjustments can have a life enhancing affect on all organic systems and functions. We will, one day, be able to point to research showing that chiropractic strengthens the immune system, aids the body in its defense against a wide range of diseases and conditions, and leads to longer, healthier and happier lives.

Someday.

I don't know about you, but I don't want to wait until "someday" to have chiropractic validation.

And I don't think you want to wait until sometime in the distant future to be able to transform your office into a smooth-running and modern, evidence-based practice, with easy-to-use technology that maximizes your patient outcomes AND your bottom line!

Luckily, we don't have to wait until that elusive "someday." We can have it all and we can have it NOW.

Thanks to Quixote Software, chiropractors are enjoying the most advanced electronic system available, a system that revolutionizes the way DCs run their office. For the first time ever, chiropractors have complete control over the way their office handles every administrative detail from report writing to insurance claims filing. It's like being in the cockpit of a jet aircraft, knowing that every control you need is at your fingertips and that you can fly even a jumbo jet with the ease of a sports car.

I don't think any one company has ever been able to offer so much to the profession.

First is the office software itself, a unique combination of tools that simplifies nearly every aspect of running a chiropractic office. Using the most sophisticated dot-net technology, Quixote makes it possible for many functions to run in the background. No more installing programs or updates, or having to have five different pieces of software to handle different areas of your practice. One program does it all.

Since I'm a stickler for proper patient record keeping, this was one of the most important aspects of the program when I evaluated the software. It excelled at helping doctors put together the kind of records that can stand up in court or in case of a board complaint. In fact, it's one of the most powerful risk management tools I've ever seen.

But what makes Quixote the "Software with a Higher Purpose," is its research and clinical science project, which is compiling the information from participating doctors' computers (using the Quixote software interface) that will definitively link subluxation to specific health conditions or to an overall decrease in wellness, and demonstrate the beneficial outcomes possible with chiropractic adjustments. In short, this project will validate chiropractic. It will give us the scientific answers to the questions: what affect do subluxations have on health, and what impact does chiropractic make?

This research -- involving hundreds of thousands of people -- will finally show us how many chiropractic patients experience a far reduced incidence of colds and flu each year. Or how many children after being adjusted were free for the first time in their lives of bedwetting and ear infections. Or how chiropractic can be a tool in the fight against diabetes, cancer or heart disease.

I'm not talking about anecdotal evidence or testimonials from other patients. I'm talking about valid research published in reputable scientific, peerreviewed journals.

You can see why I'm so excited. This isn't some pie-in-the-sky project that will be done "some day" in the future. It's being worked on right this minute, in offices around the country, thanks to Quixote. It's what we've wanted and needed for more than a hundred years and we have it available to us now.

As if all that weren't enough, Quixote is working on the most incredible instrumentation ever developed for chiropractic, instrumentation that will transform chiropractic offices into the most effective and impressive health care resource ever offered to the public. It'll act as a patient magnet, drawing families into your office so you can provide the incredible benefits of chiropractic care at a level you never dreamed of before.

It isn't often that we get to revolutionize our offices, dramatically increase our patient volume and revenue, help so many more people lead healthier lives, and contribute to research validating everything that DD and BJ stood for. But we have that opportunity now. Chiropractic is a fast-moving profession and it's picking up speed every day. Doctors can either join the frontrunners or be left in the dust. They can create the practice, and the profession, of their dreams today or wait for "some day," knowing -- as the song says -- "someday never comes."
