New humanitarian group formed

An organization called Journey to Solidarity has been created to bring chiropractic as well as basic living necessities to rural areas around the globe. According to Jay Breitlow, DC, director and president, the organization will provide free or reduced-cost chiropractic and other health services to people in need, particularly in developing nations.

The group's first mission was to Madagascar, where a licensed chiropractor began providing care last month. Although there are a handful of medical doctors in Madagascar, chiropractic was unavailable until this program began.

"The vision of Journey to Solidarity is to share a natural, safe and effective form of health care with the world," stated Dr. Breitlow in a recent press release. "In developing parts of the world, people are extremely adept at knowing what is right and wrong with their bodies, and they understand that the greatest healer of the human body lies within. In a natural environment it is incredible to observe the power of the nervous system free of interference. People benefit tremendously from chiropractic care and their gracious nature and desire to continue care relays the need for Journey to continue with these missions long into the future."

Heather Maxwell, Palmer College of Chiropractic student body president, added: "Journey to Solidarity will provide the missing link of chiropractic care to people all around the world who need it. Not only will this organization help those less fortunate get the health care they need and deserve, but it will also serve to educate about the benefits of chiropractic. I have worked with many nonprofit organizations, but Journey to Solidarity is unique because at its core, it is driven with the courage, compassion, and commitment to helping everyone have a chance to live in full health and wellness naturally."

The organization has filed with the IRS under section 501(c)3 as Wellness International Missions Inc., doing business as "Journey to Solidarity." Donations are being accepted and are tax-deductible pending formalities with final IRS paperwork. Donations can be made via telephone at 319-558-7168 or online at the interactive website www.journeytosolidarity.org.
