A chiropractic friend in very high places
In chiropractic, as in
everything, it's good to have friends in high places. When we're trying to
get legislation passed, we're lucky to have supporters in Congress and the
White House. When we're working to generate positive coverage of
chiropractic issues, it's important to have allies in the media.
And when it comes to
giving doctors of chiropractic the opportunity to boost their incomes
without compromising their chiropractic principles or sacrificing their
business ethics, it's fortunate that we can work with one of the most
respected and successful multi-million dollar successes in the world: Bill
Farley.
Looking at Mr. Farley's
background, you wouldn't automatically think he'd become so closely
associated with the chiropractic profession. After all, he started out in
law, receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 1969, before going into business
management. He worked with the investment banking firm of Lehman Brothers
and then invested $25,000 to purchase a small company called Anaheim Citrus
Products.
That investment paid
off and he continued leveraging his returns in an astounding series of
acquisitions that culminated in his $1.4 billion purchase of Northwest
Industries in 1985. Two years later, he successfully completed the initial
$565 million public offering of Fruit of the Loom, Inc.
After serving as
chairman and CEO of Fruit of the Loom, Inc., from 1984 through 1999 (and
taking it from a $500 million domestic underwear company into a global
family apparel powerhouse with annual revenues as high as $5 billion) he
sold the company to Berkshire Hathaway Co.
Today, Farley is the
sole shareholder of Liam Ventures, Inc., a private equity firm with
investments in a variety of different industries that include biotech,
communications and other basic industries.
He is also CEO and
majority owner of Zrii LLC, and marketer of the incredibly popular liquid
nutritional supplement , which is what brought him into contact with Terry
A. Rondberg, DC, and in turn, with the chiropractic profession.
"When I first met Bill,
I was impressed with his uncanny ability to zero in on the best financial
opportunities out there, and to turn whatever he touches into gold," Dr.
Rondberg explains. "But even more than that, I was impressed that the only
businesses he would get involved in were ones that maintained high
standards. He always took the high road in business, and that road seemed
always to lead him to prosperity and fulfillment. I knew he was in a unique
position to help chiropractors profit from the wellness revolution occurring
across the globe."
Farley was open to
learning about chiropractic and agreed with Rondberg that Zrii and
chiropractic made a perfect, synergistic combination. The Ayurvedic
principles upon which Zrii was developed are in complete harmony with
chiropractic philosophy, making Zrii perfect for chiropractors. Working
closely with Farley, Rondberg created a network of doctors eager to use and
promote Zrii as a powerful health-building complement to chiropractic.
When DCs research Zrii,
particularly its endorsement by the Chopra
Center for Wellness, they're pretty
much convinced of its efficacy. If they have any doubts about the business
end of the Zrii program, they need only look at Farley's credentials to gain
assurance of its legitimacy.
One of the most
inspiring aspects of Farley's background is his reputation as an ethical and
compassionate businessman who understands the importance of giving back to
the community and helping others. For instance, Farley has given several
multi-million dollar gifts to educational institutions, including his Rhode
Island high school, Bowdoin College, and Boston
College. He oversees the Utah-based
Zrii Foundation, which gives to children's charities worldwide, including a
recent gift to abandoned children in Haiti. Moreover, he established a
charitable organization, called the Farley Foundation, which contributes to
many different educational, medical, civic and cultural programs around the
world.
Rather than sit in his
office monitoring his finances, Farley takes an active role in many national
and community organizations including the Horatio Alger Association, the Big
Shoulders Fund, the Rush Hospital Heart Institute and Adamant Media
Corporation.
He's also known for his
one-on-one mentoring of people who work for or with him, and he takes a real
pleasure in seeing others succeed. But he warns that success often means
stepping outside our comfort zone to try something different. "A willingness
to take risk is probably a major reason for my success today," he has
stated. "Many people could be as successful as I am, or more so, but for
whatever reason they are unable to take steps that appear personally or
financially risky."
Fortunately for
chiropractors, the risk is minimal with Zrii, particularly with Farley at
the helm. Within months of its launch, Zrii became one of the most talked
about network marketing companies on the web, with acknowledged potential to
become the largest MLM Company in history. In fact, investing in Zrii has
been far less risky than investing in the stock market. While Wall Street
went into a tailspin, Zrii revenues skyrocketed, posting a 40% growth in the
number of new distributors and more than 30% growth in revenue in September
2008.
"With friends like Bill
Farley helping us, we can't lose," Rondberg said. "It's like having the
president of the U.S. support your legislation or the New York Times editor
approve your article for publication. With him beside us, Zrii is truly a
win-win proposition that I hope all doctors of chiropractic will get in on."
